In 2021 Andrew Fleck Children’s Services (AFCS) welcomed Alta Vista Nursery School as one of our group sites. Located at 480 Avalon Place, this program has been an important service to the community providing quality early learning and care since 1984. Our philosophy is to direct, encourage and stimulate the development of the whole child. A balance of self-selected and teacher directed activities encourage the child in self-expression, independence, social, physical and cognitive skills. The child will learn at his or her own pace in an environment of trust and creative experience. We offer half day part time care with options of 2, 3 or 5 days a week. The 2 day/week option is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the 3 day/week option on Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Program Hours: Toddler: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Preschool: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Program:1 This Preschool program (30 months and up) runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. In addition to the am program routine, children attending the full day have the opportunity to do other activities (indoor and outdoor). This program helps children to get ready to Jk/Sk and also helps working parents with an extended schedule.Program:2 - Toddler Program runs from 9:00 am to 11:30 am - Parents have the option to choose 2, 3, 4 or 5 days a week. - Toddlers follow a daily routine, which involves free play, creative arts and crafts, bathroom and handwashing, music and movements (singing and dancing). Every transition has a song, which helps children to follow through with simple instructions. - Mid morning snack, is provided by parents.
