Program:1
This is the youngest group – they sure do love to explore and learn new things. Weefolk is proud to have wonderful teachers who provide a warm and nurturing environment. Some activities in that group include:
Going outside: Every morning we jump into the “little spaceship” for some fresh air. We feel the sunshine, listen to the birds, smell the air and watch the trees and leaves blow in the wind.
Indoor play: We are learning shapes and colors with various blocks and toys. The infants explore their senses with exposure to different manipulatives. We have a daily circle time that is very enjoyable for the children; at this time we have visits from puppets, read stories and sing songs!
Arts & Crafts: We introduce the children to gluing, painting and coloring with the assistance of the educators. Their artwork is compiled into a scrapbook that is given to the parents at Christmas time.
Program:2
The Rumpoles are a very active and creative group of toddlers! They are exploring their curiosities, learning to share and respect their peers and beginning to learn ABC’s, 1,2,3’s and more vocabulary. They love dramatic play with dress up clothes, the kitchen and dolls; the puzzles are a favourite with them as well as the reading center. There is a block area with large vehicles and soft blocks, which allow them to build various structures. In this group we are setting these children up with the skills, which will facilitate the transition to the Preschool room. Some activities in this group include:
Circle time: the Rumpoles will spend a longer period of time in circle than in the younger groups. The educators are much more interactive and engage the children in answering questions to stimulate brain activity for growth and development.
Going outside: There is a very large yard, which is shared between this group and the preschoolers. The Rumpoles enjoy running and playing games in the yard with their peers. There are three mini-houses in the yard as well as a shed full of mini-bikes, cars, strollers and balls for the children to play with. In the summer, we have outdoor water play every day that it’s hot and sunny!!
Arts and Crafts: The Rumpoles are at a very sensory stage in development. During arts and crafts, we find them very interested in how the glue and paint feels like on their hands! They really enjoy showing off their finished projects and really feel overjoyed before Christmas when they are wrapping up their scrapbooks to give the parents!!
Program:3
The Flippers are preparing to advance into Kindergarten. They are beginning to learn about science, the weather, basic math, printing, music, dramatic play and appropriate ways of interacting with peers and teachers. Some activities in this group include:
Circle time: The Flippers begin to learn through group discussions, counting in French and English, language development, 3D stories, the calendar, daily weather songs and discussions and dramatic play to teach certain theories.
Outdoor play: This time allows the children to expend their energy through group and parallel play. There is a lot of teamwork and cooperation amongst the children as well as turn taking on the various bikes and cars. There are three mini-houses outside which inspire dramatic play as well.
Arts and Crafts: We encourage open-ended arts and craft activities in this group. The children are encouraged to use their imagination with the materials provided to bring about creative development. The planned arts and crafts are centered around the monthly activities and will also go into the scrapbook at the end of the year.
